The best summation of our beliefs at Southside Baptist Church would flow from affirmations of the Protestant Reformation. These are known as the five solas of the Reformation. (The Latin term sola means "only.")
sola scriptura - Scripture alone is the only God-inspired, inerrant, infallible, and authoritative rule of faith and practice.
sola gratia - God's grace alone is the reason any person is redeemed from sin and saved. It is not due to any human merit or a result of any human action.
sola fide - Faith alone is the God-given instrument through which the work of Christ is applied to the redeemed. Faith is a gift from God and is not something that fallen man is able to produce.
solus christus - Christ alone is the only Redeemer of sinful man. Only the work of Christ is sufficient to justify sinners before a holy, righteous God.
soli Deo gloria - Every aspect of redemption, as well as all of life, is for the glory of God alone. All glory is due Him!
"For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever." Rom. 11:36
